Story of Impact: Angelica Columnas

"The mission for my life is to alleviate the suffering of others by becoming a nurse, through the transformative power of purpose-seeking amidst life's tribulations, marked by resilience in the face of adversity and an unwavering dedication to a purpose that transcends personal ambitions."

When she was little Angelica wanted to be a lawyer – but life had other plans.

Her father, grandmother, and grandfather all were diagnosed with cancer. Taking care of her family, she learned how special it was to be a nurse, and realized her ultimate goal was to become a doctor specializing in oncology.

Angelica Columnas found KW Next Gen in a very special way – her sister Justine is our Customer Experience Coordinator! (Unlike Angelica, Justine faints at the sight of blood so she’s meant to be working with us instead!)

Funding Education

Angelica is one of our international students; she lives in the Philippines and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Xavier University. She first signed up for “Crush My Goals” online, she enrolled in coaching with Teresa Kennedy, and later received a Fund My Mission Scholarship for a portion of her college tuition.

“This scholarship helped me so much because education here in the Philippines is very expensive and it’s hard for my mother to pay a certain amount, as I have siblings who are currently studying as well. The scholarship has given me a strong motivation and hope that I can and will fulfill all of my life’s mission.”

Healthcare in the Philippines is very expensive, “a privilege, not a right,” and after completing her studies Angelica hopes to make an impact on the system as a whole so that everyone has access to quality healthcare.

Medical bills for her family were hefty, and quality care was limited, so she’s especially interested in providing low to no-cost checkups and screenings so other people can avoid the extensive healthcare costs

“I am still in awe that I was granted this scholarship and now here I am fulfilling my childhood dream and my life mission. KW Next Gen empowers you to make a positive difference not just in your life, but in the lives of others.”

Hope in the face of hardship

The recent floods along the Guadalupe River struck close to home for KW Next Gen, reminding us how quickly life can change—and how deeply we all rely on one another. As our neighbors in Central Texas and beyond begin the difficult process of rebuilding, we’re called to show up with compassion and action. Founder’s Day—now rescheduled for September 18—offers a way to do just that: unite as a community, fuel scholarships, and equip young adults with the tools and support they need to overcome hardship and build brighter futures.
